Natural Tree Stands
The City of Edmonton is fortunate to have acres of natural tree stands. These trees stabilize our riverbanks, mitigate storm water runoff and filter CO2 from the air. Natural tree stands provide habitat and food for a range of wildlife that live in Edmonton.
The City does not maintain natural tree stands. They are left to behave as nature intended as much as possible. Dead or dying trees provide perches for birds and, once they fall, provide nutrients for the soil.
The City will top or remove dead trees that are a potential hazard to persons or property. If you are concerned about a dead tree near your property, call 311 to have a City Arbourist assess the tree.
