  1. Whose responsibility is it to clear up debris from fallen trees and branches on private property?
  2. When will City crews clear the roads, boulevards and trails?
  3. Can residents leave branches out for regular garbage collection?
  4. Where can residents take large debris for disposal?
  5. If I don't have any way of getting my trees to the Edmonton Waste Management Centre or Eco Stations, what are my options?


 

1. Whose responsibility is it to clear up debris from fallen trees and branches on private property?

It is the responsibility of the owner of the tree (s) to clear debris from:

1. their own property
2. neighbouring property
3. City property, ie: boulevards, City sidewalks

2. When will City crews clear the roads, boulevards and trails?

City crews are working hard and outside contractors have been hired to assist in the clean up and removal of trees and branches from City property. Due to the extent of the damage, it may take a couple of weeks.

3. Can residents leave branches out for regular garbage collection?

As usual, smaller branches can be set out for regular garbage collection if they are bundled and no longer than 1.2 metres (4 feet) and no heavier than 20 kg (44 lbs). The trees will be mulched and used for composting.

4. Where can residents take large debris for disposal?
Edmonton Waste Management Centre
  • Trees and brush can also be taken to the Edmonton Waste Management Centre at no charge.
  • Open 7:30am to 7pm Monday to Friday
  • Open 8am to 5pm Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays
  • Located at 13111 Meridian (1st) Street NE.

Eco Stations-Larger trees/debris

  • Larger trees can be taken to an Eco Station. Charges apply and depend on the volume.
  • Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6:30pm.
  • South: 5150-99 Street  (entrance on 99 Street only)
  • North: 11440-143 Street
  • Ambleside (Southwest): 14710 Ellerslie Road SW

5. If I don't have any way of getting my trees to the Edmonton Waste Management Centre or Eco Stations, what are my options?

Tree Service Companies and Neighbours

At their own cost, residents can hire private tree service companies to remove trees and debris from their property. Alternately ask a neighbour who is making a trip if they can take your branches.
