Schoolyard Clean Up
Register your School for 2012
Spruce up your school this spring by registering with Capital City Clean Up’s Schoolyard Clean Up program. It’s an easy way to show school pride and help Edmonton schools stay clean and safe.
The City of Edmonton will recognize all participating elementary, junior and senior high schools. The tidiest three schools in each of the city’s four quadrants will win prizes. So get involved and Just Can It!
It's Easy to Register
E-mail schoolyardcleanup@edmonton.ca with the following information:
- Your school’s name and address.
- Contact teacher’s name and phone number.
- Number of garbage bags (choose either 25 or 50) to support your cleanup. (City staff will deliver the bags and 100 disposable gloves within five working days of your registration)
Just Remember
- Register your school from March 15 until May 31.
- Schedule cleanups as soon as the snow melts until June 30.
- Pick up litter on the ground, but be smart about it! Stay away from sharp objects, messy items and other dangerous substances.
Make it fun and do it regularly
- Rotate classes for weekly litter pickup.
- Challenge other classes to see who picks up the most litter.
- Encourage school clubs to get involved.
- Celebrate the schoolyard cleanup at the school assembly.
- Plan a special activity for Earth Day.
A clean and safe Edmonton is a shared responsibility!
