This Old Edmonton House

The This Old Edmonton House Seminar series for 2017 is open for registration. The seminars run every winter between the months of March and April.

They are aimed at providing owners of older homes with a basic knowledge of issues related to restoring old properties, and may help them make more informed decisions on their possible options.

Heritage Inventories

Heritage homeThe City is carrying out surveys of its mature neighbourhoods over the next few years to determine which resources should be added to the Inventory of Historic Resources in Edmonton.

Some areas will also be looked at to determine if they could also become Heritage Areas depending upon whether or not there is a large enough concentration of older buildings of a certain type or period.

Areas Being Assessed

Westmount Inglewood Neighbourhoods

McCauley, Alberta Avenue, and Parkdale Neighbourhoods

The inventory is complete and undergoing final review. Forty-six resources were identified and two potential heritage areas may be brought forward for consideration.

The final report has details about the McCauley-Alberta Avenue-Parkdale historic resources and heritage areas (11.2MB).

The map below highlights the buildings that were initially reviewed and assessed. If you feel your property should be on the list and was not included in the final report, you still have the opportunity to bring it forward for consideration.

Please look at the Historic Resources Inventory section on this web site for details on the process and information required.

If you think you have information, images or plans that may be of interest and that could add historic value to your property or area, please contact us.

Strathcona, Garneau, Queen Alexandra, and Ritchie Neighbourhoods

If you feel your property or another building has heritage value, please feel free to contact the Heritage Planners. However, prior to doing so please review our website and assemble enough relevant information (photos, plans, stories, building dates, etc.) to allow any initial review to be carried out quickly.
