Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Muttart Conservatory and Edmonton Valley Zoo

This Sunday, celebrate Mother’s Day with events for the whole family at City of Edmonton Attractions.

The Muttart Conservatory

Event:  Mother’s Day – Blooms, Bears & Butterflies
Date:  Sunday May 9, 2010
Time:  1–4pm

The Muttart Conservatory has a fun day planned for mom and family to share. Stroll through the pyramids and enjoy the wonderful smells and delights of the flowers. In the Feature Pyramid, celebrate A Song of Spring with vibrant blue, cool white and hot pink Hydrangeas, Martha Washington Geraniums and other springtime favourites.

Then join us in Centre Court which has a whole range of activities for the family:

  • Children can learn about the life cycle of butterflies and make special wings for their favourite teddy bear. Families can plant a marigold seedling for mom.
  • Send mom home with the smells of the Muttart – create aromatic spa treatments, including bath bombs, lip glosses, and fragrance sachets.
  • Plus music, face painting, and more!

While you’re at the Muttart on Sunday, make sure you head down to the greenhouses for the Annual Bedding Plant Sale.

Event:  Mother’s Day Magic – The Zoo Becomes a Spa!
Date:  Sunday May 9, 2010
Time:  noon–4pm

Celebrate all the mothers of the animal kingdom – including your own! Delight your animal-loving mom at Mother’s Day Magic at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

Pamper your mom with a complimentary mini manicure or a massage that she can enjoy while indulging in a delicious treat. While mom is being fussed over, kids can watch some of the animals receive special spa treatments of their own including mud baths, foot soaks and even a pedicure.

As a special bonus for mom, visit Do It Yourself guru, Linda Bodo. Learn how to recycle common household materials into interesting and practical Do It Yourself projects. Then, get Linda to sign a copy of her new book – The Art of Upcycle!

The day’s entertainment continues with the Mother’s Day Magic show, live music and crafts. Watch for animal encounters, face painting, educational animal talks, or let the little ones discover the activities featured in the Safari Surprise.

Jump aboard the train for a scenic tour around the zoo to make sure you visit all of the zoo’s “Super Moms” and see just how wonderful different animal moms can be.
