Public Hearing to Resume on Municipal Development Plan

February 19, 2010

The proposed Municipal Development Plan (MDP) for the City of Edmonton is being considered again by City Council.

Date:  Monday, February 22, 2010 (continuing February 23 and 24, if additional time is required)
Time:  1:30–9:30pm
Location:  Council Chamber, City Hall

To create the Edmonton that City Council and residents envision – a sustainable, compact, and transit-oriented city – we need to plan for it. The MDP, called The Way We Grow, is the City’s strategic growth and development plan and will guide the way the city grows and moves over the next decade.

Citizens are invited to share their views on the proposed plan. Anyone who wants to speak to Council must register with the Office of the City Clerk and be present at the start of the meeting on February 22, 2010.  The procedures for registering to speak, and details on the agenda items, can be found at www.edmonton.ca/meetings  or by calling 780-496-8178.

The MDP was initially presented to City Council at a Public Hearing in November 2008 along with the Transportation Master Plan (TMP). The TMP has since been approved by City Council (September 2009). The MDP has received significant public input and numerous City Council amendments at four Public Hearing sessions (November 2008, June 2009, September 2009, and November 2009).
