Partial Fire Ban Lifted

May 05, 2010

A partial fire ban that was in effect for the City of Edmonton has been lifted.

Fire Marshal Ron Jeske says recent precipitation has decreased the risk of wildland fires in Edmonton and led to the removal of the ban.

“Even though the partial fire ban is lifted, Edmontonians should take precautions when enjoying a fire, whether it’s in their backyards or in City parks,” Jeske said. “Make sure fire pits are properly extinguished, and only burn clean, dry fuel. Everyone benefits when we all take responsibility and make a commitment to be fire safe in our parks and in our homes.”

The partial fire ban, which restricted any fires in park areas using charcoal, briquettes or wood, as well as all open air burning and fireworks, had been in effect since April 21.
