Date:  Monday, May 31, 2010
Time:  2 to 8pm
Location: Hillview Room, Woodvale Facility (located on the Mill Woods Golf Course), 4540 – 50 Street

The Meadows Community Recreation Centre includes:

  • Edmonton Public Library
  • Aquatic facilities and fitness centre
  • Gymnasium and programming spaces
  • Indoor walking and jogging track
  • Ice Arena featuring two NHL-sized rinks
  • Multicultural space

To enhance access, 17 Street (23 Avenue – Silverberry Road) and 23 Avenue (17 Street – 24 Street) will be upgraded to urban standard. A new transit loop is also planned.

Construction of the Meadows Community Recreation Centre and Edmonton Public Library is expected to begin in early 2011. The roadway work is tentatively scheduled for spring 2011 and utility work scheduled for fall. The entire project is scheduled for completion by spring 2013.

The plans are the result of the medium-term recreation facility and sports field plan approved by City Council in 2007. The plan recommends the development of multi-purpose recreation facilities and district activity parks in geographic areas with populations ranging from 40,000 to 80,000 people.
