Edmontonians Step Up to Clean River Valley
April 30, 2010
Edmonton spring clean up continues
Join the growing group of volunteers signed up to participate in the clean up of our river valley. With over 400 volunteers already signed up, the kickoff to the 23rd annual River Valley Clean Up, Sunday, May 2 at 10am at Louise McKinney Park promises to be the largest ever.
“It is exciting to see Edmontonians involved in cleaning up their city,” says Kevin Moore, River Valley Clean Up Coordinator. “We have maximized our space already for the clean up at the Louise McKinney site.”
But there are still other sites in the river valley that need cleaning. People who can’t make it Sunday or haven’t yet signed up are encouraged to get a group together and contact Kevin to work out a time and place to clean, any time until September. Location assignments will cover as much of the river valley as possible this summer.
Volunteers should bring good work gloves and wear sturdy shoes. All garbage bags are supplied; no heavy lifting is required.
Following on the heels of “15 to Clean”, street sweeping and the launch of the City’s Big Bin events, spring cleaning in Edmonton is off to a great start.
