Council Chambers Renovation

Beginning September 16, 2010, renovation work will begin on City Hall Council Chambers. The planned completion date is October 21, 2010, in time for the inaugural meeting of the new City Council on October 26, 2010.

The renovation includes:

Removal of 21 fixed seats.
Construction of two additional Administration desks.
Minor electrical, audio-visual equipment and microphones for the new desks.

The renovations will allow members of City Administration appearing before City Council to work more efficiently either as part of their appearance or as they wait for their agenda items to come up.

Since City Hall was opened in 1992, there have been a few minor renovations to upgrade the spectator seating, replace the carpeting, and enhance the sound system in 2007, and to upgrade the Clerk’s desk.

During the construction period, no outside access will be permitted to Council Chambers.

The cost of the renovations is approximately $95,000.
