City Hall Bells Will be Ringing This Holiday Season
December 17, 2010
From December 20 to 23, the sounds of popular Christmas carols will fill the air around Edmonton’s City Hall.
Edmontonians in the downtown area will hear the bells of City Hall ring out to celebrate the holiday season each day from noon to 1 pm.
Jerrold Eilander, a pianist with the Winspear Centre, will be playing on Edmonton City Hall’s carillon with the use of a computerized keyboard. Eilander has been playing the City’s carillon for the past seven years during the Christmas season and other special occasions.
The 23 bells, which weigh more than 40,000 pounds, sit atop the Friendship Tower on the south side of City Hall.
