Choosing a Route for the Downtown LRT Connector

June 15, 2010

The Downtown LRT Connector will be a key component in the revitalization of Edmonton’s downtown into a more vibrant, attractive, higher density area. A public hearing on the route selection for the Downtown LRT Connector will be held.

Date:  Monday, June 21
Time:  1:30pm–9:30pm
Location: City Hall, Council Chambers

The Downtown LRT Connector would consist of a street-level LRT joining the future West LRT line at Grant MacEwan University with the future Southeast line at the Quarters development.

A corridor using a combination of 107 Street and 102 Avenue best meets the objectives for future LRT and supports the Capital City Downtown Plan. This corridor would connect people to existing developed areas of Downtown, while providing opportunity for further development.

This corridor recommendation will be considered by City Council following a Statutory Public Hearing on June 21. City Council will make the final decision whether the recommendation is approved.

Anyone wishing to speak at the public hearing must register in advance by visiting www.edmonton.ca/meetings, calling 780-496-8178 or in person at the Office of the City Clerk, 3rd floor, City Hall. Comments can also be e-mailed or faxed.
