Sexual exploitation happens right here in Edmonton and affects us all. Learn more about sexual exploitation and how you can help prevent it by attending these events during the Sexual Exploitation Week of Awareness (March 15-20):

Proclamation of the Sexual Exploitation Week of Awareness

March 15, 1:30 – 2pm
Stanley A. Milner Library Theatre, 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Join Councillor Amarjeet Sohi, EPS Chief, Mike Boyd, and community activist, Danielle Boudreau, to proclaim the week.

Sexual Exploitation Educational Night for Parents

March 17, 7pm
Stanley A. Milner Library Theatre, 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Learn how you can protect kids from being lured into sexual exploitation on the Internet at this free information session with Craig Krieger from Alberta Justice.

Dare to Wear Day

March 19
Show your support for the prevention and elimination of sexual exploitation by wearing the colour orange to work, school—or anywhere.

Closing Ceremonies

March 19, 10am
City Hall Heritage Room, 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square
Bring the week to a close with Mayor Mandel, Aboriginal drummer Rocky Morin, and others.

These events are being organized by the Sexual Exploitation Working Group, led by the City of Edmonton’s Office of Community Safety in collaboration with many community agencies. The Working Group strives to create awareness of sexual exploitation and the conditions that cause it.
