Eastwoodfest Celebrates Milestone in 118 Avenue Revitalization

Eastwoodfest

July 29, 2009

The City of Edmonton invites everyone to Eastwood Park on 118 Avenue to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the area’s revitalization project. Avenue Initiative is partnering with Eastwood Community League and Arts On The Ave to bring you this year’s Eastwoodfest and Street Dance.

Trees, benches, corner flowerbeds, wider sidewalks, pedestrian-level lighting, improved parking, traffic calming measures and neighbourhood identity features have transformed 118 Avenue. Such strong, visible enhancements restore a sense of pride to the area and help inspire other changes. The emergence of arts and cultural events, festivals and community clean-ups are reinvigorating the area.

On August 15, the Avenue will come alive with entertainment, music, festivities, and great food, including a free pancake breakfast. There will be live music, street performers, an antique car show, and an arts market. Enjoy local renowned artists, including Edmonton’s own Captain Tractor, the Wambats, and more! A full schedule of events can be found at Avenue Initiative website.
