Turn Back Your Clocks and Replace Your Smoke Detector Batteries
October 30, 2009
Smoke detectors save lives.
Edmonton Fire Rescue Services reminds everyone to be fire safe this weekend by replacing the batteries in their smoke detectors when they set their clock back to daylight standard time. Daylight standard time begins on November 1.
“Changing the batteries in your smoke detectors only takes a few moments, but doing this could save your life, your family and your property,” said Ron Jeske, fire marshal, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. “Practicing a fire drill with your family or roommates is another important way to prepare for an emergency in your home. These are simple tasks that can prevent a crisis from turning into a tragedy.”
The fire marshal says creating and practicing a plan to escape a fire can really help when seconds count.
