- 7 Catholic School Board trustees -- 1 from each of 6 wards plus 1 additional candidate who recieved the most votes among all the wards will serve as a second trustee for the ward in which the candidate ran.
City Council and school board trustee elections are held on the same day, use the same ballot and are overseen by the City's returning officer.
Note: The Edmonton Catholic School Board is currently reviewing its ward boundaries.
Identification
In order to vote you must provide identification such as an Alberta driver's licence, Alberta Health Care card or a Canadian passport.
Voting Register
At the voting station, you will be asked to complete and sign a voting register, which is a statement in which you declare you are eligible to vote
Assistance Marking the Ballot
A voter who has difficulty marking the ballot, or who cannot read English, may get help from a friend or the presiding deputy in the voting station.
If a friend provides assistance, both the voter and the assistant must make statements before the presiding deputy.
If the presiding deputy provides assistance, the voter must complete the "statement of incapacitated elector."
Ballot Secrecy
At the voting station, you will be given a ballot in a secrecy sleeve. In your voting booth, remove the ballot from the sleeve and mark the candidates you wish to vote for.
Only one person is allowed inside the voting booth, unless a voter has requested assistance.
After marking the ballot, replace it in the secrecy sleeve and give it to the ballot box clerk. The clerk will insert your ballot into the vote tabulator without looking at it.
If you choose too many candidates, the tabulator will return your ballot. You will be given the option of either completing a new ballot or consenting to have your ballot used. The tabulator will not count your votes in the race where you have indicated too many candidates, but it will accept the votes in the other races.
Voting Time For Employees
An employee who is an elector shall, while the voting stations are open on election day, have 3 consecutive hours for the purpose of casting a vote.
