What is a Transportation Master Plan?

The Transportation Master Plan is the framework that responds to the City of Edmonton’s future transportation needs.

The Way We Move directs policies and gives guidance for funding projects and programs that work towards an integrated transportation network.

Shifting Transportation Modes

Shifting Edmonton’s transportation modes is one of the City’s highest priorities. The Way We Move supports this goal and strives to:

  • Ensure transit sustainability and increase transit ridership
  • Improve travel options to reduce barriers between different modes of transportation
  • Increase traffic safety
  • Manage traffic congestion to facilitate travel through and around the city

What's Next

Implementing The Way We Move
An implementation plan that outlines plans, program and actions will be developed to bring the policies into reality. The implementation plan, to be updated every three years, will outline the specific projects, programs and initiatives that will be carried out to achieve the Transportation Strategic Goals.
