Proclamations

Proclamations are ceremonial documents that recognize the value and importance of an event, campaign or non-profit organization that has city-wide significance to Edmonton. They are issued by the Mayor, upon request, to designate a special day, week, or month.

Proclamations are made for such things as:

Public awareness campaigns
Charitable fundraising campaigns
Arts and cultural celebrations
Special honours (on the recommendation of the Mayor)

Please note:

Organizations may only request one proclamation annually
Organizations do not have exclusive rights to the day, week or month of their proclamation

Providing the following information will help us process your request:

The name and a brief description of the event for which you are requesting the proclamation
What day, week or month you would like to proclaim
When you require the proclamation

Please send us your request at least four to six weeks in advance of your deadline.

Processing time for requests varies. If you have not heard from us within 2-3 weeks and would like to check on the status of your request, please call 780-496-8100.
