City Council Compensation Review

In accordance with Bylaw 14180, a temporary committee was established to review and make recommendations on the remuneration provided to Members of City Council.    The goal was to ensure that people from all walks of life look at Council service as a viable option and to adequately compensate Council Members for their time and level of responsibility.

The Committee submitted its final recommendations to the June 20, 2006 City Council meeting where all recommendations were approved.   The Committee disbanded when the final report was presented to Council.

Members of the Committee

  • Ms. Phyllis Clark, University of Alberta
  • Hon. Alan T. Cooke, QC, Court of Queen's Bench, retired
  • Mr. Bill Faulkner, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce
  • Mr. Tom Olenuk, Edmonton and District Labour Council, Chair
  • Mr. Lance White, Citizen-At-Large, Vice Chair

Below is the research the Committee used to make its recommendations.   The research is also available in hard copy at the Office of the City Clerk.
