Audit Committee
Purpose/Description
The Audit Committee is a Standing Committee of Council that:
a) reviews and makes recommendations to Council about:
- the annual work plans for the City Auditor and the external auditor
- the City Auditor's annual budget request
- the appointment, reappointment, or dismissal and the fees of the external auditor
- the external auditor's annual report related to the City's audited financial statements
- any action, investigation, or analysis it wishes the City Auditor to undertake
b) interacts with the City Auditor, the External Auditor and the Administration to ensure that audit recommendations and management action plans are reasonable responses to observed conditions
c) reviews the selection process for an external auditor
d) reviews and analyzes the City's financial statements
and other related functions.
