The Vehicle for Hire Commission is governed by Bylaw # 14400. It states that the Vehicle for Hire Commission shall, subject to bylaws or any other applicable statute or regulation made pursuant to any such statute, have control of the licensing, operation, regulation and control of taxi and accessible taxi drivers licences, taxi and accessible taxi plate licences, taxi brokers licences, limousine driver's licences, limousine vehicle licences, limousine service licences, shuttle driver's licences, shuttle vehicle licences and shuttle service (business) licences in Edmonton.
