Recreational Vehicle Parking

Depending on where you intend to park your recreational vehicle, different rules apply for parking on the street or on private property.

The City of Edmonton Traffic Bylaw No. 5590 Part II - Parking Section 19 states:

  1. A recreational vehicle shall not be parked on a highway unless it is parked in a location completely adjoining the recreational vehicle owner's residence as shown in the records of the Motor Vehicle Registry.
  2. A recreational vehicle parked pursuant to this section:
    (a) shall not be parked for more than 72 consecutive hours; and
    (b) shall be removed to an off-highway location for at least 48 consecutive hours before it may be parked again on a highway.
  3. A recreational vehicle parked on a highway shall not be occupied

Parking on Residential Property Driveways:

Zoning Bylaw No. 12800, allows Recreational Vehicle owners, with laneless properties that have only front drive access to their lots, to park at least 2 metres from the interior edge of the sidewalk (or curb if there is no sidewalk), subject to the discretion of the Development Officer, during the period from April 1 to October 31 of each year. From November 1 to March 31, RVs must be stored in the rear yard of the residential property. If access to the rear yard is not possible, RVs must be stored on non-residential sites specifically approved for such storage.
