Licences & Permits

The City issues permits and licences for the development, construction and use of all commercial, industrial, institutional or residential properties and buildings. The permits set standards for the health and safety of the citizens of Edmonton and ensure Edmonton's reputation as a great place to live, work and do business.

Guidelines

Permit and licence approvals are made based on legislation from the Municipal Government Act, Municipal Bylaws, the Edmonton Zoning Bylaw, and the Alberta Building Code.

Services

We consolidated permit and licence applications into the Development Compliance Branch so that the customer can apply for any of the following permits and licences at one central location: development, building, and mechanical permits, business, personal, taxi and pet licensing, and inspections.
