Assessment and Taxes
The City of Edmonton has phased out the Business Tax that previously applied to businesses.
This is the result of a 2007 decision by City Council that the business tax revenue requirement be shifted to the non-residential property class.
However, the business tax assessment continues to be used for Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) tax purposes in those areas designated as BRZs.
Non-Residential Property Assessment for 2012
The 2012 property assessment for all property owners was mailed on January 3, 2012.
Property tax bills will be mailed in May and are due June 30. You also have the option to enrol in a monthly payment plan. This plan enables you to pay equal monthly instalments by automatic bank withdrawal without incurring any penalties. It is advantageous to you to enrol before the calendar year begins, but you may enrol at any time.

If you have any questions regarding your property assessment, you can go to an interactive online map to see how your assessment compares with other properties in your area. More detailed data specific to your property can be accessed at https://assessmentinfo.edmonton.ca/ using your Password (which can be found on the front of your assessment notice).
If there is a concern with the assessed value you are encouraged to call the assessment office first, as many valuation issues can be resolved without a written complaint to the Assessment Review Board. If your concerns are not resolved, you have until March 12, 2012 to file a written complaint with the Assessment Review Board.
Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) Tax
A number of BRZs throughout the city work to support local business interests. A BRZ levy (tax) is applied to businesses in these areas to support the activities of the Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ).
The annual BRZ taxes are due March 31 each year.
