The Drainage Construction team completed several major projects using open cut and trenchless innovative methods including Lynnwood Sanitary Upgrade, New Edmonton Remand Centre, Meadowlark Park Neighbourhood Hydraulic Upgrade, and Edmonton Waste Management Centre.
- Open Cut and Trenchless Innovations:
New construction methods and technologies have been employed by Open Cut team such as pipe ramming, pipe jacking, case boring, pipe bursting and pilot tubing.
- Lynnwood Sanitary Upgrade:
Pilot tube micro tunneling was employed to install a 750mm diameter concrete pipe combined with traditional small diameter sequential excavation methods.
- New Edmonton Remand Centre:
A variety of methods including open cut, and case auger boring have been used to install water main at this ground condition challenging site. Moreover, hand tunnelling, pilot tube micro tunnelling, pipe ramming, and open cut were use to install sanitary sewers.
- Meadowlark Park Neighbourhood Hydraulic Upgrade:
A pilot tubing with a hybrid Bohrtec/Akkerman machine was used to increase flow volume to the local sanitary sewer.
- Edmonton Waste Management Centre:
To provide the Centre with sufficient services to contain fires, the existing water line has been upgraded by installing 1.4km of 400mm diameter pipe.
