Appeals - Development and Assessment
Decisions made at the municipal level concerning tax assessment, zoning and development bylaws are open to appeal by citizens. There are two quasi-judicial, independent boards whose function is to hear these appeals. Council appoints citizens to fill positions on each board.
The Assessment Review Board hears all appeals relating to property assessments, business assessments, and local improvement taxes in Edmonton.
The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board hears appeals from citizens affected by a decision of either the Development Authority or the Subdivision Authority.
