Call for RFPs: Operation of Southwest Community Recreation Centre 4-Pad Arenas

As directed by City Council, administration is exploring various operating models for the new Southwest Community Recreation Centre. A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on June 18, 2009 to operate the four ice rinks at the new Southwest Community Recreation Centre. In addition to the rinks, the RFP gives non-profit organizations and private companies the flexibility to include the operation of other amenities, such as the pool or fitness centre, in their proposals.

No decision has been made on whether the new facility will be operated by the City, by one or more private or non-profit operators or a combination of both. Administration will explore all of these options with the intention of submitting a recommendation to City Council by the end of September.

The RFP will be posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection, as outlined in the City’s policy, and will be managed by the Corporate Services Department. The deadline for submitting proposals is July 16, 2009.
