Partners and Stakeholders
There are many partners and stakeholders supporting the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre project. The City of Edmonton recognizes this, and is very appreciative of the significant contributions and support provided by all of the involved groups and organizations.
Partner Groups
Terwillegar Riverbend Advisory Council (TRAC) is a not-for-profit organization comprised of southwest neighbourhood representatives. One of its primary objectives is to bring together the community to work toward the realization of a recreation centre.
Both the Public School Board and Catholic School Board are site partners. They have a strong interest in the site with the City of Edmonton reserving land for future school and sports field development. The plans for the site identify Archbishop Joseph MacNeil Catholic Elementary School (constructed and operational), Lillian Osbourne Public High School (opening September 2009), as well as a future catholic high school, and future public elementary school.
The Arena Users Committee was established to provide recommendations to the City on all matters that impact the operation of City arenas and to resolve all issues brought forward by the allocation committees of the 2004-2014 Arena Strategy.
Responsibilities of the Arena Users Committee:
Provide an evaluation of the 2004-2014 Arena Strategy processes and roles to the Community Services department at the end of each year.
Identify and measure the benefits, community outcomes, and associated performance measures related to indoor arenas.
Present a report to the Community Services department and stakeholders on the above topics annually.
The committee consists of two non-voting department representatives as well as the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the following:
Minor Sports Allocation Committee
Special Groups Allocation Committee
Joint Use Allocation Committee (co-chaired by School Board representatives)
Department and Community Allocation Committee
Adult Allocation Committee
In addition to these specific partner groups, a multitude of sport organizations, cultural groups, and special interest partners have already given of their time to help this project become a reality.
