Lifesaving Courses
Once you have completed a lifesaving course you will need to recertify after 2 years to maintain the award.
Bronze Cross
Ages: 13+ years
Learn the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures and how to rescue spinal injured victims and pulseless persons.
Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion

Bronze Medallion
Ages: 13+ years
Learn rescue tows, carries and how to respond to complex resuscitation situations involving conscious and unconscious victims with an obstructed airway. Develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a time swim.
Prerequisites: 13 years-old or completion of a Bronze Star.

Bronze Star
Ages: 10+ years
The Bronze Star course prepares you for the Bronze Medallion course. The focus is on developing the 4 components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness.
Completion of Swim Patrol is recommended.

First Aid Courses
The Standard First Aid course provides comprehensive training in first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid such as medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, and other medical emergencies. Course includes CPR 'C' certification.
Price includes manual and exam fees.
Edmonton Ocean Lifesaving Club
Ages: 8-15 years
(formerly known as Junior Lifeguard Club)This course involves lifesaving skill development, fitness, leadership, teamwork, community education, lifesaving knowledge, and friendly competitions.
