New North Central Community Recreation Centre Open Winter 2012

The new North Central Community Recreation Centre at Joe Clarke Athletic Grounds has a fresh design that will improve accessibility and integrate it with Commonwealth Stadium. The new centre will include an aquatic area, fitness centre, fitness studio, gymnasium (existing), indoor walking / jogging track, fieldhouse, lobby, support spaces, amenities and parking.

Commonwealth Sports and Fitness Centre will close to the public on September 1, 2009, to accommodate construction of the new recreation centre. Commonwealth Stadium and Clarke Field will remain in operation during construction with minor adjustments to services.

For the duration of the closure, we encourage you to continue your recreation and fitness routine at a neighbouring City facility such as the Kinsmen Sports Centre, Londonderry Fitness and Leisure Centre, or O’Leary Fitness and Leisure Centre.

All valid Commonwealth Sports and Fitness Centre tier 2 and 3 passes will be honoured at other City facilities including the Kinsmen Sports Centre. Passholders also have the option of suspending annual passes during the closure, or receiving a prorated refund on passes.
