Celebrate With Us!

Have fun in nature and plant trees with us at a free, family event! Festivities will include a Tree-athlon, tree planting, live music, bucket truck rides, tree giveaways, educational exhibitors, and much more! The Root for Trees Fest is an annual event to celebrate trees in nature. This event will connect community members with ways to plant trees and engage with their natural surroundings.

Tree Planting

How many trees can you plant? Help the Community Greening Team plant over 1,000 trees.


The Tree-athlon is the only race of its kind in Edmonton! This tree-mendous race is for children 12 years old and under. Racers can register for a 0.5 km or 1 km race in which they will run, plant a tree, and water a tree before crossing the finish line and receiving their medal. Please note, registration for the Tree-ahtlon is limited and will start at 10am at Picnic Site #1. 

On-site Registration: 10am

1 km Start Time: 11am

0.5 km Start Time: 11:30am


Community Displays

Visit a variety of displays set up by community groups. Whether you want to learn more about how to participate in Front Yards in Bloom, or more information on your local Community League – there will be something of interest to you.
