Size: Up to 7 kg (15 lbs)
The Indian star tortoise lives in dry scrub forests and grassland areas of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Its characteristic markings make excellent camouflage. This tortoise does not hibernate, but can become inactive if it is too hot or cold. The Indian star tortoise has unfortunately become popular in the illegal exotic pet trade.
Fun Fact: The female Indian star tortoise tends to be larger than the male.
